In-situ tools for energy conversion and sensing – new directions in Dresden

Functional interfaces are at the heart of energy conversion and sensing. In this talk I will give an overview of previous work from my group at the VU Amsterdam in applying spectroscopic tools [1-3] to study the properties of interfaces in emerging photovoltaics. More recently we have extended our work to design a new approach that couples impedance spectroscopy with vibrational spectroscopy to monitor temperature in disordered organic semiconductors. In this case, we exploit the temperature-dependent Raman shifts in the finger print regime to quantify self-heating in polymer diodes and measure the temperature at the surface of optically excited plasmonic particles. As an outlook, I will introduce the activities at the Fraunhofer FEP and future directions for potential cooperation between FEP and the TU Dresden.
